About Reflective Ecclesia

The word, Ecclesia, (Ekk-lah-see-uh) means “gathering” or “assembly” often rendered as “church”, but with the implication of a community more than a building; The word, Reflective, has a double meaning: 1) To consider or think deeply about something, and 2) To shine forth with the light from another source, just as the moon reflects the light of the sun.

It is no secret that our society is in decline. Many of our institutions appear to be sluggish, unresponsive, or predatory. Our culture is increasingly polarized, confused, and consumed with various vices (both legal and illegal ones!) Although we live in an age of incredible wealth, historically speaking, that has not necessarily translated to spiritual, mental, financial, or physical wellness for everyone. The rot is starting to show more and more. Our world, and specifically our society, needs Jesus.

Unfortunately the Church is also beset with various divisions, obstacles, and sickness of its own, rendering us far less effective than we could be. Exploring how we as the Church can become more healthy, grounded, and effective, is what Reflective Ecclesia is all about. You can think about it with the acronym SILT: Serve, Improve, Lead, Think. That’s what Reflective Ecclesia is trying to help the Church do. It’s also why the tagline of Reflective Ecclesia is “Deep Thought - Christ-Centered Action.”

The goal for Reflective Ecclesia would be to develop into a network that functions as a hub for thought leadership, provision of practical resources and creative content, and connection to deep community and professional services — all aimed at examining, educating, and edifying the Church.
